Wheel of Fortune: Where Cycles Turn and Change Comes
Share
Card 10 of the Major Arcana
After The Hermit's stillness comes Wheel of Fortune - the card of cycles, change, and the turning tides of fate. This is about accepting that life moves in seasons, and that change is the only constant.
In my hand-embroidered tarot series, Wheel of Fortune represents the creative cycles we all experience - periods of flow and drought, inspiration and rest, growth and release.
The Symbolism
A great wheel turns in the sky, inscribed with alchemical symbols and Hebrew letters spelling out the divine name. Four winged creatures in the corners represent the four fixed signs of the zodiac and the four evangelists. Anubis rises on one side while the serpent Typhon descends on the other, showing the eternal cycle of rise and fall.
This card asks: What cycle are you in? Can you trust the turning of the wheel?
My Interpretation
Stitching Wheel of Fortune required embracing the circular nature of the creative process - sometimes the thread flows easily, sometimes it tangles. The reclaimed linen itself has been through cycles of use and rest, now beginning a new turn on the wheel as art.
Wheel of Fortune reminds us that nothing lasts forever - not the hard times, but also not the easy ones. The wheel keeps turning, and our job is to stay centered while it spins.
Wheel of Fortune's Message
- Cycles - Life moves in seasons and rhythms
- Change - Embrace transformation as natural
- Fate - Some things are beyond our control
- Opportunity - Timing matters - seize the moment
- Perspective - What goes up must come down, and vice versa
