The Hermit tarot card — hand-embroidered on reclaimed fabric by Lolo Little Space

The Hermit: Where Solitude Brings Wisdom | Tiny Tarot Art Series

The light within. 9/21 The Hermit—this one is my personal favorite!

After Strength's compassionate engagement comes The Hermit - the card of solitude, introspection, and the wisdom found in quiet contemplation. This is about withdrawing from the noise to find your inner light.

In my hand-embroidered tarot series, The Hermit represents the solitary nature of creative work and the deep wisdom that emerges when we turn inward.

The Symbolism

An old sage stands alone on a mountain peak, holding a lantern containing a six-pointed star (the Seal of Solomon). His staff supports him on the journey, and his grey robes blend with the mountain, showing his unity with the natural world. The lantern lights only a few steps ahead - enough to guide the way without revealing the entire path.

This card asks: What wisdom lies in your solitude? What do you discover when you step away from the crowd?

My Interpretation

Stitching The Hermit is itself a hermit's practice - hours spent alone with needle and thread, finding meaning in the quiet repetition, discovering insights in the silence. The reclaimed linen holds space for contemplation, each stitch a meditation, each thread a thought followed to its conclusion.

The Hermit reminds us that sometimes we must step away from the world to truly see it, and that solitude is not loneliness - it's sacred space for self-discovery.

The Hermit's Message

  • Solitude - Embrace time alone for reflection
  • Inner guidance - Your own light shows the way
  • Wisdom - Deep truths emerge in silence
  • Introspection - Look within for answers
  • Patience - The path reveals itself one step at a time
